In this hymn, she is also extolled as the primordial energy, the mother of the universe. Recitation of this hymn is one way that Siddha Yoga students can pay homage to Mahalakshmi and invoke her blessings. This practice supports us to recognize and nurture her divine qualities within ourselves, in our lives, and in the world around us.
Any occasion—particularly an occasion one wishes to approach with a spirit of friendliness, generosity, and goodwill—is an excellent time to welcome the presence of Mahalakshmi through the recitation of this hymn.
Events especially suitable for this practice include birthdays, weddings, and any beginning—the start of a new year or the commencement of some new venture. Holidays such as Navaratri, when Mahalakshmi is honored, and Deepavali, when people welcome this goddess into their homes and lives, are also traditional times to recite this hymn as an expression of gratitude for her blessings of abundance, harmony, and protection.

I am so grateful to receive the powerful energy of this hymn. Its devotional sweetness fills my heart with peace. It gives me confidence in the benefits of both my spiritual practice and the learnings and challenges of daily life. I feel connected with a long line of souls honoring the Mother of the Universe, the One that lives in yoga and that I can love with all my being.
Mexico City, Mexico My favorite part about being in residence at Gurudev Siddha Peeth was singing the Mahalakshmi Stotram and other hymns with my seva group before beginning seva.
I am very grateful to be able to access this hymn so easily right here in my sunny home in New Zealand. Singing to Shri Lakshmi today, I felt a daring energy rise within me. I am finding myself called to fill new roles in seva and my work life that require a delicate balancing act. Singing this beautiful hymn gives me the strength to meet these occasions and the confidence to rise willingly and happily to new situations, no matter how challenging they may seem.
Wellington, New Zealand I was describing a life situation to a fellow sevite, and he suggested I sing to Lakshmi. What a purely divine experience! As I sang it this morning, the phrase, "I am loved," arose from deep within, and echoed through me with tenderness and compassion.
I felt a knot had been untied, leaving me humbled and grateful. I suddenly was aware of the constant and benevolent presence of the Devi during my entire life, guiding me sweetly and firmly toward the Guru.
I feel an inner abundance of joy and energy, and the outer abundance of golden opportunities and blessings. I have been singing this hymn daily for 20 years now. When I chant with this recording or listen to it, I experience my own inner bliss.
Thank you, Gurumayi, for making these exquisite recordings available for us. Then, I went to work. I was busier than I have ever been at this workplace. Generously and supportively, co-workers and colleagues helped without my even having to ask them. I experienced this as a manifestation of the grace of Shri Mahalakshmi in my life.
